Living With or Without Regret
Ever wish you could start over? Probably all of us have longed for another chance in some area of our lives. We wouldn't necessarily have done things differently, just more or perhaps less.
The truth is we can't go back, only forward into uncharted territory. To sit in our sorrow would lead to misery. Although regret that leads to change is a dear friend, regret that leads to shame is a treacherous enemy.
So how do we live without allowing regret to rob us of our joy? How about this insight to prompt us on: "Lean not on your own understanding" (Proverbs 3:5).
Sometimes, we are so certain we know something, we don't really. Know what I mean? There is no guarantee that if we had done a part of our lives differently things would end up any different. We have to trust the God of the universe who directs the outcome of all things that he will do that which ultimately needs to be done (in spite of us, if necessary).

God Knows Us
We don't have to worry that God won't know us. he has known us -each one of us- since he knit us together in our mothers' wombs (Psalm 139:13).
He knows us by name (Isaiah 43:1), and he'll never stumble over the pronunciation or forget who we are. He wears our names on his hands (Isaiah 49:16).
And we can be assured that he knows more than just our names; he knows all about us (Psalm 139:3) - and loves us anyway!

He's Looking at You
She volunteered to sing at the local nursing home this past Sunday. She wanted to bring a little joy to the residents who don't get out much. Well, six people showed up. Three ladies fell asleep before I started. Another was off in a corner dancing to a tune that was different from the one I was singing, but the loudest one of all sat right up front, ust under my nose. Her hearing aid was turned up too high, and it was giving off high-pitched whining noises. Every time I began another song she cried out at the top of her lungs, "Oh,no, she's going to sing again!"
Do you ever feel as if no one seems to notice or appreciate you? God sees our hearts, and that's all he cares about. He doesn't miss a single moment of a life lived out for him. If everyone in your audience has dozed off or danced off to another tune, you might want to check again. There, in the corner, is God, watching and listening and appreciating you.
